You Are AI’s Best Friend Book Launch Party Held at Sicilian Restaurant in NYC
The book launch for You Are AI’s Best Friend by Philip Fischer brought out friends and colleagues to Piccola Cucina Osteria Siciliana in Soho, NYC, on a warm evening in late August 2026.
“The restaurant is a small, intimate place, very Sicilian — a lot like the spots I found in Sicily, where an olive oil mill gave me the framework for my AI book,” Fischer said. “Thanks to everyone who celebrated with me.”
Below are some excerpts from the speech Fischer shared with friends at the event.
“Both we and AI must be wise enough to work together and face a universe full of knowledge beyond either one of us.
“These two interests of mine got blended on a culinary adventure to Sicily—along with a partially finished book on AI—where I saw that the culture had survived the onslaught of revolutions for centuries.
“This book provides a slice in time for our period in that maelstrom of change.
“When I started the book there was substantial debate about whether AI was simply a fad. ChatGPT ended that concern for many of us.
“Is it fair to continue to call it ‘artificial’ intelligence? . . . it seems that it is just silicon intelligence, at least at this point.
“In one way or another, we need AI to be artificial intelligence and artificial wisdom. And not just a general intelligence.
“It is a fascinating period to be alive, and I am deeply grateful for it. As I am for my wonderful wife Linda, and all my great family, friends, and colleagues.”
